This module introduces the Sustainable Development Goals, known as the SDGs, and explores the global challenges they aim to address. It helps young people recognise that issues such as poverty, inequality, climate change, access to education, health and sustainable consumption are connected to everyday life in their own communities.

Learners will explore all 17 SDGs, discover how Official Development Assistance supports global development, and consider how local choices and youth action can contribute to wider change.

The module covers:

  • The purpose of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

  • Global challenges and how they affect people differently.

  • The connection between ODA, global development and the SDGs.

  • The relationship between global issues and local realities.

  • Everyday choices and community action.

  • Critical thinking, empathy, communication, collaboration and problem-solving.

  • Interactive activities, a short scenario and a final knowledge quiz.
